It happened at 12:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of South 54th Street.
Police say the female officer was stabbed in her right arm and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
The officer's name has not been released.
Police say a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with this incident.
