Lehigh University suspends frat in vandalism case

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - April 16, 2014

The Umoja House is home to 28 multicultural students at the Bethlehem college. In November, it was egged and spray-painted with racial slurs.

University Provost Patrick Farrell said that in addition to 10 citations filed against the fraternity, two fraternity members have been cited for violating the university's code of conduct.

Farrell said there is insufficient evidence for criminal charges but a student conduct hearing is planned. The students' names were not released.

The Umoja House website says it was originally established "for underrepresented students of color at Lehigh University" but is open to "any student who values multiculturalism."

Umoja is a Swahili word meaning "unity."
