Surveillance video expected from armed Target robbery; $10K to $30K stolen in NE Phila.

SOMERTON - April 21, 2014

Authorities say up to $30,000 was stolen in Saturday's armed robbery in the 11000 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia's Somerton section.

Police say shortly after 10:00 p.m. an employee was closing the store when three suspects who had been hiding in the men's bathroom walked out and demanded money from the safe.

When the suspects were told that no one had a key to the safe, they pointed a gun at the employees.

According to police, the three men then directed one worker to open the cash registers.

One of the suspects removed the cash from the six cash registers, stealing $10,000 to $30,000.

The three men then fled the store on foot.

Northeast Detectives say the men ran toward an apartment complex on Haldeman Avenue where officers searched with no luck.

Helicopters searched the area, but were also unable to locate the suspects.

There is surveillance video of the men walking in, hiding and robbing the Target store. Police said they plan to release the video Monday morning.
