Suspect sought in armed robbery in Cobbs Creek

Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who robbed a man at gunpoint in the city's Cobbs Creek section.

COBBS CREEK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who robbed a man at gunpoint in the city's Cobbs Creek section.

It happened back on January 31 on the 5600 block of Walnut Street.

Police say the victim was approached by the suspect at 1:30 a m. and asked if he knew where to buy drugs.

As the pair walked down the street, the suspect then pulled a handgun from his pocket and demanded cash.

He forced the victim to lay on the ground before taking $5 from his wallet and a cell phone.

The gunman then fled the scene heading east on 56th Street.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.

The suspect was caught on surveillance prior to the robbery making a purchase at a nearby gas station.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 18-25 years-old and 5'9" tall with a light complexion, thin build, clean shaven and short curly hair. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt under a black vest, black scarf, and a blue and white striped winter hat.
