Barricade situation in Elkins Park apartment complex

ELKINS PARK, Pa. (WPVI) -- Montgomery County authorities are on the scene of a barricade situation in Elkins Park.

Cheltenham Township police were called to the Lynnewood Garden Apartments in the 1900 block of Ashbourne Road just after 1 p.m. Thursday for a barricaded suspect.

It is unknown at this time if the person is armed or if anyone else is with the suspect.

Police are not allowing anyone from going in or out of the complex.

Cheltenham School District says students who reside in the Lynwood Gardens property are being dropped off at the Club at Lynwood Gardens, 1950 Ashbourne Road in Elkins Park, rather than their normal afternoon drop off location.

Cheltenham School District staff members will be on site at the Community Center to assist parents and children.
