NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- A water main break is causing problems in Delaware.

The city of Newark issued a Boil Water notice after the 8 inch main burst Friday morning on Kirkwood Highway at Cleveland Avenue.

The advisory is in effect because of possible E. coli contamination.

Shue-Medill Middle School and the restaurants at the Possum Park shopping center are closed because they lost water service.

The city of Newark says the main is 75 years old. Crews have repaired the break.

They plan to notify residents when the boil water advisory is lifted.
