Burglar breaks into church in Southwest Philadelphia

Police are searching for a burglar who broke into a church in the Kingsessing section of South Philadelphia over the summer.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for a burglar who broke into a church in the Kingsessing section of South Philadelphia over the summer.

Surveillance video shows the suspect breaking into the Healing Waters Church on the 1700 block of South 56th Street around 11 p.m. back on August 19.

After forcing open the front door, the suspect can be seen carrying out a flat screen TV and a portable stereo from inside.

He returns two minutes later and steals another TV and a microphone.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with a thin build and beard. He was wearing a light colored t-shirt, dark colored pants, white sneakers and a blue baseball hat. He also has what appears to be a tattoo on his right forearm.
