Burglar targets diner in East Mount Airy

Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who burglarized the Trolley Car Diner in the city's East mount Airy section.

EAST MOUNT AIRY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect who burglarized a popular diner in the city's East Mount Airy section.

Police say an unknown male kicked in a glass door at the Trolley Car Diner on the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue around 2 a.m.

The burglar can be seen on surveillance in the storage area of the diner, picking up a pipe and a large CO2 bottle, which he used to smash through the drywall of an office and take a Toshiba laptop computer.

He also spends several minutes trying unsuccessfully to open the cash registers.

The man then fled the diner through a side door in an unknown direction.
