Woman bolts out of Ohio courtroom after sentencing on theft charges

Moments after this woman was sentenced for stealing from an Ohio Walmart, she took off running.

BEREA, Ohio (WPVI) -- A woman is still on the run this morning after she bolted out of an Ohio courtroom during her sentencing on a theft charge, ABC affiliate WEWS-TV reports.



Police say a just had just sentenced Stephanie Rybkoski to 180 days in jail for stealing from a Walmart. She asked the judge if she could step outside the courtroom to use her cellphone to let her family know about the ruling.



The judge said yes and sent Bailiff Mathew Bedford to escort Rybkoski into the hall so she could make the call.



But when Rybkoski walked through the doors, she took off running down the hall, out the front doors and into the parking lot. She then jumped into her car, put it into revers and ran over the bailiff who was chasing after he.



The bailiff suffered minor injuries and is okay. Rybkoski is still at large and now will face escape, assault and resisting arrest charges when she's captured.
