Who is she? Victim in cold case still unidentified

CALN TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- It's been 20 years since a woman was found dismembered in Chester County, and to this day she remains unidentified.

Investigators showed off two computer-generated images and a bust, all artist conceptions of what she may have looked like.

The bust was created by legendary sketch artist Frank Bender.

"She's either a white female or white/Hispanic female. She's anywhere between 18 and 40," said Trooper Chad Roberts of the Pennsylvania State Police.

In July of 1995, a fisherman found the woman's head and torso inside a suitcase. The grisly discovery was made in the Valley Creek in East Caln Township.

Also inside was the victim's light blue shirt.

The water damaged any possible DNA evidence. Dental records and finger print database searches have yielded nothing.

"She may not even be from this country, and that's one of the things we've talked about in the case. Maybe that's why we haven't been able to track down the missing person. Could be a transient from the other side of the country," said Trooper Dan Covert.

Police believe the woman was killed and dismembered before being dumped in the creek. Her legs were found months later in Core Creek State Park in Bucks County, some 75 miles away.

"Maybe somebody will recognize her and say 'Hey, this might be my loved one,' they give us a call and we go from there," said Roberts.
