SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Police in Springfield Township, Delaware County are investigating after they say a young girl was struck by a car after getting off the school bus.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon around 3:39 p.m. on the 400 block of E. Woodland Avenue.

The 7-year-old child, identified by family members as Jayzlin Yeboah, was rushed to an area hospital where she's listed in critical condition.

"All that I was doing was crying and I said, 'Lord, save this child for me, save this child, save this child,'" said Jayzlin's grandmother, Rose Yeboah.

Jayzlin's sister, Jenyl Yeboah, tells Action News the bus driver came to their stop, put on his lights and they made their way to the door.

She says when they attempted to cross the street, the driver in the black Honda struck her sister. A dent was visible on the hood from the reported impact. The driver did stay at the scene.

"She was lying there. I saw some people crowding around her, then I was trying to see if she was alive," said Jenyl.

"If you could see her right now, what would you want to tell her?" asked reporter George Solis.

"I'd tell her I hope that she lives," said Jenyl.

Jenyl says in the two years she's been riding the bus, nothing like this has ever happened, and hopes it never does again.

"The cars always stop so I can cross," she says.

The bus was full of students at the time of the accident.

It's unclear if the driver of the car is facing any charges.

Family members say Jayzlin is in the second grade at Sabold Elementary School.

The Springfield School District released this statement on the accident:

"The Springfield School District is aware of a car accident that occurred on Woodland Avenue this afternoon involving a student from Sabold Elementary School. We have been in touch with family, and obviously, our hearts and prayers are with them.
