SMYRNA, Del. (WPVI) -- A Delaware woman is accused of making kids walk for six miles before leaving them in a park with strangers.
Wendy Powell, a 38-year-old resident of Townsend, was arrested on Tuesday evening.
Police say Powell, a relative of the 10-year-old, 9-year-old and 4-year-old, picked them up from their bus stop.
From there, investigators say, Powell made the kids walk six miles down U.S. Highway 13 to the George C. Wright Jr. Municipal Park.
Powell then left the kids with strangers and left the area, police say.
Those strangers, finding the children exhausted and hungry, bought them food and called police.
As officers were on the scene, Powell allegedly emerged from a wooded area behind the park. She was then taken into custody.
She faces three counts of endangering the welfare of children.
The children were turned over to the custody of other family members.
