Boy, 9, dies after football practice in Ohio

REEDSVILLE, Ohio (WPVI) -- A 9-year-old boy died after football practice in Ohio, officials said, but the cause of death was not immediately known.

According to ABC News, the incident happened Monday night at Eastern High School in Reedsville, after the boy finished running sprints.

Rescuers found the boy unconscious and tried to revive him.

"The staff, students, and community of Eastern Local would like to express our sincere condolences to the family during this very unfortunate time," Eastern Local School Superintendent Scott Gheen said in a statement to ABC television station WCHS.

The cause of death was expected to be determined later this week, officials said.
