For dozens of couples at Philadelphia City Hall, Valentine's Day went off without a hitch - that's because ?getting hitched? was part of the plan.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was a day of matrimony as 50 couples made Valentine's Day a bit more special.

Couples from all walks of life said 'I do.' at Philadelphia City Hall.

Grace and Robert Rudi were the first to tie the knot.

"We've been together for a while and life just got in the way. The time is right," said Grace Rudi, South Philadelphia.

"I love her and wanted to marry her today, especially today on Valentine's Day," said Robert Rudi, South Philadelphia.

"We've been wanting to do it for a long time now and it's a very special day and we will always remember this day," said Aisha Williams, Southwest Philadelphia.

"It was amazing man. I'm nervous still I'm happy its done," said Stephen Williams, Southwest Philadelphia.

Phillip Nemeth and Jan Blazek arrived here from the Czech Republic just a month ago.

"We are finally married and we can live happily married like we always wanted to - it feels great," said Nemeth.

For the men, Valentines Day is ideal. They won't be forgetting the anniversary date and when it comes to gifts - its two birds with one stone.

The nuptials lasted a little less than an hour as a half dozen judges presided over the unions.

"A lot of what we do is serious and takes a lot of weight whether people think that or not but this is the ultimate joy of being a judge," said Honorable Vincent Melchiorre.
