2 officers injured during police protest in Center City

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Two officers suffered minor injuries during a police protest in Center City, Philadelphia Saturday.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. on the 1400 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

Hundreds protested as the International Association of Chiefs of Police met inside the Convention Center.

Officials say a bike officer was punched in the face by a protester. That officer was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital for injuries to his nose.

A second officer was also treated for minor injuries to his leg.

Both officers are expected to be treated and released.

Four protesters were issued citations for disorderly conduct and two will face charges of assault on police officers.

One of those protesters suffered minor injuries to his cheek, He was taken to Hahnemann by police and released.
