PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Community members and other businesses came together Saturday to support a landmark restaurant on South Street,

Money and hugs were exchanged at a fundraiser for Bridget Foy's employees.

Owner John Foy said, "The outpouring of support from neighbors has been staggering."

The staff of about thirty are out of work since Wednesday's devastating fire.

Drone 6 was over the ruins of Bridget Foy's restaurant on South Street after a fire on October 25, 2017.

Foy doesn't know yet when they will reopen.

In the meantime, Foy said, "Now, we've made priority one getting our people jobs."

The fire ripped through the restaurant just after 1 a.m.

The building at 2nd and South could not be saved.

Two dogs inside the next door pet supply store Doggy Style were killed.

Both were rescues and up for adoption.

Bridget Foy's has been a fixture in the neighborhood since 1978, especially among families.

The Foys live in the area, too.

Their annual Halloween party would have taken place Saturday night. The Headhouse District knew they could help.

Michael Harris, Executive Director of South Street Headhouse said, "One of the first things they said was they were sorry the Halloween dance party would have to be cancelled. We thought it's only a block away, so let's move the party down here to the Shambles."

Longtime customers dressed up in costumes and got to work with one goal in mind.

"To raise as much money as we possibly can for the employees," said Cheryl Henderson of Society Hill.

"I'm working the room selling 50/50 tickets. Our hope is that folks will donate back if they win," said Mingo Reynolds of Society Hill.

Employee Bianca Caballero said, "Bridget Foy's is out, but were not down. Our family is so strong."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you and bring on the hugs," Foy said.

Three more fundraisers are planned for the employees of Foy's.
