SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Education leaders gathered in Philadelphia to highlight the importance of science and math.

It's all part of the Got STEM Conference.

The one day initiative featured 80 educators.

They discussed how science, technology, engineering, math and computer science help connect students with strong career options.

Pennsylvania's Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera was on hand.

He spoke about PAsmart, a $50,000,000 dollar investment in STEM programs.
