PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Puerto Rican Day Parade took over the Ben Franklin Parkway Sunday.

And while everyone in attendance was well aware of the devastation and the suffering in Puerto Rico, the celebration of Puerto Rican culture seemed to serve as a needed respite for many with loved ones on the island.

Many in the crowd donated money to help with disaster relief efforts.

Governor Tom Wolf was also there to show his support for the people of Puerto Rico and their loved ones here in Pennsylvania.

The event was organized by Concilio and sponsored by 6abc.
