Off-duty police officer hurt in crash in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer is hospitalized after a crash in South Philadelphia.

It happened at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Federal Street.

Action News is told the officer was off-duty at the time.

The officer's vehicle hit a fire hydrant.

The officer was taken to Jefferson University Hospital with stable vital signs.

There was no immediate word what led to the crash.
