TACONY (WPVI) -- A man had to be rescued Saturday morning after jumping into the Delaware River to avoid police.

The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. just off the 5200 block of Unruh Avenue.

Authorities say the 27-year-old man, who was allegedly wanted for a burglary, was running from police when he decided to jump into the river.

The US Coast Guard spotted the man and rescued him from the river.
