Ducklings rescued from storm drain in Delaware

NEW CASTLE CO., Del. (WPVI) -- Firefighters rescued a family of ducklings from a storm drain in New Castle County, Delaware.



The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Commons Boulevard and Reads Way.



According to witnesses, the mother and her ten ducklings were waddling along when five of them fell into a storm drain.



A female firefighter jumped into action. She crawled 150 feet into the drain to rescue the ducklings.




She was able to save themm but unfortunately the mother and other siblings could not be found.



The five ducklings are now being cared for by a bird rescue group.
