Philadelphia police shot and wounded a pit bull while serving an arrest warrant in Port Richmond this morning.

PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- An officer serving a warrant shot and wounded a dog inside the basement of a house in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia.

The incident happened before 5:30 a.m. Friday on the 3000 block of Weikel Street.

Police called for the SPCA for the wounded dog. There was also a second dog in the basement.

The person being served the warrant fled the home, police say.

They are trying to locate that person.
