BRICK, N.J. (WPVI) -- Investigators with the Ocean county prosecutors Office arrested the superintendent of the Brick Township schools Thursday morning.

Walter Uszenski faces theft and misconduct charges after investigators say he approved a plan to give his granddaughter special treatment paid for by the district.

It is estimated the pre-schooler received nearly $40,000 worth of fraudulent benefits, including full-time day care and transportation after Uszenski falsely claimed the services were necessary for the child.

Prosecutors also charged Uszenski's daughter, Jacqueline Halsey, and former Brick Schools Director of Special Services, Andrew Morgan.

Morgan allegedly engineered the scheme on Uszenski's behalf.
