NJ Senator Cory Booker will be Temple University's commencement speaker

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- U.S. Senator Cory Booker will be Temple University's commencement speaker next month.

The New Jersey native will also receive an honorary degree.

Booker will address Temple's 131st commencement ceremony.

The event will take place on May 10.

Booker is the first black U.S. Senator for New Jersey.

Prior to that, he served two successful terms as mayor of Newark.
