VIDEO: How comedian Deon Cole got role on 'Black-ish'

Comedian Deon Cole visited the 6abc studios while he was town doing stand-up at Helium Comedy Club.

Cole has many top tier TV writing credits, but when he applied to be a writer for 'Black-ish' he ended up getting cast as Charlie Telphy, one of Dre's coworkers instead.

Cole says the show resonates with different generations and taps into real life in a way that no show has before.

Black-ish airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. on 6abc.
