CLEVELAND, Ohio (WPVI) -- These gray November days may cause a lot of people to skip their outdoor walks or workouts.
But fitness experts have some tips for moving your exercise indoors instead.
Runners, especially, may have a tough time adjusting to running on a treadmill, but officials say you have to give your body time to adjust.
It takes different body mechanics when the ground is moving under you as opposed to moving over the ground.
For cyclists, it's a bit easier.
You can use your own bike by putting it on a stand or switch to a spin bike.
Also, remember to lighten up your clothing.
"You don't want to be overdressed exercising indoors because you don't want to overheat and you want to make sure that your footwear, if you haven't replaced it in a while, is going to be supportive enough to do what you want to do with your indoor workout," said Dr. Susan Joy, a sports medicine specialist at the Cleveland Clinic.
This is also a good time to try a new activity or fitness class.
The change in activity may reignite your motivation, and help you burn more calories.
And in our area, there is no shortage of different and affordable fitness classes.
