Suspects flee empty-handed in Family Dollar attempted robbery

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for two men who tried to rob a Family Dollar, but came up short.

It happened just before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday along the 1900 block of Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia.

Authorities say two men, one armed with a gun, walked in and demanded cash.

After a few minutes, the suspects ran out without taking anything.

It's not clear what happened during those few minutes.

No injuries were reported.
