Mom shamed for letting child ride on motorcycle

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (WPVI) -- A Texas mother is under fire for posting a photo showing her young daughter riding on the back of a motorcycle.

Mallory Torres says it was her boyfriend who picked up her 7-year-old daughter on his motorcycle.

The picture has sparked outrage on social media.

Torres is firing back at critics.

"Some people will put their kids in sports. My daughter likes to be on a motorcycle. They're both dangerous. Yes, one is more dangerous than the other. But just because it's dangerous for anybody to be on a motorcycle doesn't mean that they shouldn't be on a motorcycle," said Torres.

John Hays, Torres's boyfriend, says he has been riding for more than 20 years.

And, the child only rides with him when she wears a full-face helmet, vest and gloves.

Texas State motorcycle law only prohibits passengers under the age of 5.
