It is officially flu season, but the CDC doesn't typically start tracking cases until later this month.

But the good news is early tests are showing this year's vaccine is a good match for the strains that could be going around.

Last year, the flu shot got a bad reputation because the predominant virus mutated and the vaccine wasn't very effective.

But even if the vaccine doesn't give you 100% protection, it can still boost your immunity and help prevent severe symptoms.

So everyone over 6-months old is urged to get vaccinated.

It takes two weeks to build immunity so it's best to get a flu shot soon.

As for the bad news, some doctors believe if you do get the flu this year, it could be a severe strain just based on what we've seen the past few years.
