Is a hot dog considered a sandwich?
Is a hot dog considered a sandwich? Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on July 25, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Grilled, dirty water, foot long, slathered with ketchup, mustard or relish and stuffed in a bun.

A hot dog is a summertime fave - but is it a sandwich?

Frankly, it depends who you ask.

The Kentucky Courier-Journal says no way - not a sammy. And they're so adamant about it that they issued almost a century's worth of corrections going all the way back to 1887, when they started writing about "frankfurter sandwiches."

They have the backing of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council which has also declared it is NOT a sandwich.

But Merriam-Webster says it is - it is meat in the middle of bread after all.

What do you think?
