CONCORD, NC (WPVI) -- A Concord, North Carolina, restaurant manager is apologizing after photos were taken allegedly showing him bringing a roadkill deer into his restaurant.

Local station WSOC reports customers and health officials demanded answers after a picture was taken of owner Sunny Chen taking the dead deer into his restaurant. He is said to have butchered the deer in the restaurant's parking lot.

WSOC reporter Joe Bruno asked Chen, manager of China Fun Restaurant, why he brought the roadkill into his restaurant. Chen replied, "I just try to cook it, eat it by myself, not for sale."

According to the health inspector, Chen slaughtered the deer outside in the parking lot but brought parts inside and placed them in the sink. But China Fun remains open because the health department says there was no cross contamination and no evidence that it would be served to customers, WSOC reports.

However, as WSOC reported, the restaurant has dozens of health violations over the past five years. Currently, however, the restaurant has an "A" rating.

As for Chen, he apologized on WSOC's cameras, saying, "Sorry about this, I will never do that again."
