BALA CYNWYD (WPVI) -- With cooler weather moving in, it's the perfect time to update your fall wardrobe with the latest trends.

This week on FYI Philly, we met up with Emily Goulet, Lifestyle Editor at Philadelphia Magazine, at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd to get the scoop on the latest fall fashions!

"For fall and winter trends this year, we are seeing a whole host of really, really exciting things popping up," said Emily.

When it comes to fall 2015 footwear, it's all about mixing style with comfort!

"Slip on trainers like this pony hair pair by Celine that look great with anything!" said Emily. "Wear it with a simple slip dress, wear it with jeans, wear it to the office even because it's a little bit luxe and you'll be comfortable and look really really chic. It takes the traditional sneaker that were all used to and completely elevates it."

Boots are also changing up their look this fall, channeling a 70s vibe with a mod, chunky, block heel.

"Another big trend for fall, we're seeing a lot of fringe. We're also seeing the color camel and really soft great materials like suede. This boot by AquaZura is the perfect melding of all three," said Emily.

If you're looking to update your bag for the season, Emily says try a bucket or saddle bag.

"We're also seeing microbags. These are tiny, tiny bags that may not hold much but they pack a huge style punch," she said.

When it comes to clothes, the trends this year can easily be worn both day and night.

"We have a lot of kind of throwback, folkloric 70s going on which you can do for the office or for going out," said Emily. "Its especially good for casual wear. A pair of jeans, a really textured jacket and you look great!"

She also suggests to try more of a flared jeans as well as mixing and matching textures this season.

"So your going to do a knit with some tweed. Your gonna get some plaid in there and also they're doing shine and shimmer," said Emily.

Pants proportions are also a new trend, with many sporting a slightly cropped pant this fall.

One of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe is to incorporate some rich autumn hues, like marsala, Pantone's color of the year.

"And were also seeing a redefined power suit so bring back the tonal power suit! And do it in all one color," said Emily.

Emily says when it comes to the trends this season, invest in pieces that make you feel comfortable while pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone.

"Don't be afraid to kind of mix and match a little bit of everything. If you're doing a little bit of 70s, add in some shine. If you are wearing something that's a bit more classic but you want to feel like you are on trend, go for the color of the season," she suggests.

Finally, if you're looking to take your look from year-to-year, Emily says to buy one statement piece that speaks to you.

"So even if it's just getting one thing that speaks to you, whether it's a fringed bag or a low chunky block shoe, that can instantly take your look from fall 2014 to fall 2015," she said.
