GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- A 3-year-old girl is hospitalized after she and her twin sister fell out of a second-floor window of a home in Philadelphia's Germantown section.
Family members identified the girls Saturday as Madison and McKenzie Whitney.
Paramedics responded shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of Manheim Street.
Police say the girls fell 20-30 feet onto the pavement in the backyard of the family's home.
"It's been water works all afternoon for me," said Rob Whitney, father. "I love my kids so much."
Family members say the twins are inseparable, and the pair likely climbed onto a window seat before plummeting.
"They were supposed to be taking a nap. I put them down for nap. I went and checked on them," said Whitney. "The next thing I know, I'm getting told one of the is outside."
"She was laying here in the wheel well of the steps," said Harryo Collins, relative. "She hit the pavement."
Both girls were rushed to St. Christopher's Hospital.
Madison, who suffered a fractured skull, is listed in stable condition. McKenzie was treated and released.
Family members say they think Madison broke McKenzie's fall.
"Madison is the one that's hurt. McKenzie seems to be alright," said Collins. "Because one had blood all on her, the other one didn't have a mark on her."
Collins says after the fall, McKenzie ran to the front of the house, likely looking for help.
"The lesson is just to be on top of things always. Tripe check, quadruple check if you have to, to make sure your kids are OK if they're taking a nap," said Whitney.
He says Madison is awake and alert, and will be hospitalized overnight.
