Boyfriend charged in Glasgow, Del. crash that killed girlfriend

GLASGOW, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man in a crash that killed his girlfriend of three years.

Police said Monday that they've arrested Ernest McGill Jr. on charges of second-degree vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.

The 26-year-old was arraigned on Sunday and released after posting $11,000 secured bail.

Police say McGill was driving around 3:30 a.m. Sunday southbound South College Avenue north of Pulaski Highway.near Glasgow when he veered into a grass median and hit a metal guardrail that penetrated his car.

The guardrail hit his girlfriend, 22-year-old Jazmyn Lewis of Bear. She was ejected from the car and died.

McGill's mother, Pam McGill, says her son accidentally fell asleep and is devastated about Lewis' death.

She says the whole family loved Lewis and is struggling with her loss.
