An executive at the top of her game left her dream job as the president of a billion-dollar company to take care of her sister.

(WPVI) -- An executive at the top of her game left her dream job as the president of a billion-dollar company to take care of her sister.

Christi Shaw says the pharmaceutical world was stunned when she stepped down, putting her successful career on pause and putting her family first.

Her sister, Sherry, was diagnosed with a Multiple myeloma, a bone marrow cancer, and her treatments require full-time care.

"It wasn't a difficult decision. My mother unfortunately had breast cancer, and my older sister took eight weeks caring for her," said Shaw. "This decision was a logical step from a family perspective."

Shaw say she feels lucky to have this time, and to be able to make this decision financially.

She says her new job is creating a foundation with her sister to help families in similar situations.
