2-year-old conjoined twins successfully separated at Calif. hospital

Two-year-old conjoined twins in California can now lead separate lives.

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital says Erika and Eva Sandoval were successfully separated in an operation that lasted well into Tuesday night.

Fifty doctors, nurses and operating-room staff took part in the 17-hour surgery.

Members of the Sandoval family hugged and had tears of joy when the separation was complete.

The girls are both doing well.
