Doctors warn of antibiotic overuse and misuse

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Some doctors are sounding the alarm again about over-using and misusing antibiotics.

A recent review shows they were frequently prescribed inappropriately for respiratory illnesses.

The worst offender was urgent care centers. Antibiotics work to kill bacteria but not viruses.

Over-prescribing them can lead to resistant bacteria developing.
