A tragic loss for one family brought life to another in Arizona.

PHOENIX -- Two families that are now bonded forever by a life-saving gift met for the first time last week. The mother of a baby who died just months into life got to hear her baby's heart beat in the body of a child who it saved.

Not long ago, Jordan Drake was in need of a new heart to survive. And while Jordan was fighting for her life, Lukas Clark lost his just months after it began.

Amidst their grief, Lukas' family made the decision to have his organs used to save other lives. His heart went to Jordan.

The two families had been communicating from afar since the donation. But on Friday, they met face to face in Phoenix.

During the meeting, Heather Clark got to hear her son's heart beating for the first time in three years.

"The only thing I could think of was, I can't save my own son, why not save someone else's why not save somebody else's child?" Heather told ABC affiliate KNXV.

According to Donate Life Arizona, more than 122,000 people nationwide are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
