LINWOOD, Pa. (WPVI) -- It was a celebration today of a life well-lived for a World War Two veteran from Delaware County.
John Cahall, of Linwood, turned 96 years old Friday.
Mr. Cahall is a true American hero.
He served under General Patton in the 14th Armored Tank Division.
In addition to his birthday cake - Ed Keegan, president of the American Legion post in Boothwyn, Pa., honored Cahall with a plaque, for his service to our country.
It was Cahall's Crozer-Keystone hospice nurse who brought the big day to everyone's attention.
As for the secret to his long life?
Cahill says: no smoking.
But he says - that policy got him into trouble in the Army - when his supervisor tried to make him pick up cigarette butts.
Here's what he told his commander.
And for that - he got two weeks kitchen duty.
On the bright side, he said, that helped him become a great cook.
From all of us at action news - Happy Birthday.
