Keeping your brain active can help prevent dementia
Keeping your brain active can help prevent dementia. Ali Gorman reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on June 22, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you're looking for ways to save your brain from dementia or Alzheimer's Disease, experts say three interventions might work.

If you like doing puzzles and mind-teasers, new research is encouraging, but there is still no concrete, scientific evidence that it will help prevent mental decline.

The same goes for managing high blood pressure and increasing your physical activity.

Research shows they could also lower your risk, but there is no strong evidence.

So because there is no strong evidence, researchers can't launch a public health campaign encouraging people to do these things.

But many say the public should know they could work and have other benefits as well.
