PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A local gym is launching a new challenge to help get Philadelphia more fit, and if you join, not only will you get healthier, you could also win money!

There is $10,000 in prize money, and due to new technology that measures your heart rate and effort level, everyone will be on the same playing field.

It's called My City Moves. City Fitness is sponsoring the competition, but it's open to anyone, working out anywhere using the My Zone app to turn all of Philadelphia into a virtual gym.

City Fitness marketing director Tom Wingert explains, "Effectively, it's a heart rate monitor that's mixed with an algorithm and blue tooth technology, so it creates a kind of point system."

They're My Zone Efforts points, or MEPS. The harder you work, the more MEPS you earn.

Obviously, you get healthier, that's a win. But you can also win some money in this competition.

Wingert says, "The person who gets the most MEPS overall is going to win $1,000, burns the most calories wins $1,000, the person that shows the most transformation."

Rack up 1,300 MEPS and you win a raffle ticket for the $5,000 grand prize!

City Fitness has also partnered in the competition with fitness influencers.

"What we call our 'fit-fluencers,'" says Ken Davies, CEO and founder of City Fitness.

Those fit-fluencers include Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin, and personal trainers Jared White and Fabiana Ferrarini. Ferrarini was featured last month of the cover of Oxygen magazine.

And while the My City Moves campaign kicks off in March, the fit-fluencers are competing now to help spread the word.

Ferrarini says, "You see other people are getting so many points, so you're like I have to get those points as well, you know. So it really pushes you to work hard."

Jared White tells us, "Helps you take yourself to the next level."

Registration closes Monday and costs $99, but that buys you the My Zone belt and access to free training camps every Saturday throughout the competition.

Davies says, "We want any Philadelphian to join this challenge and start to move."

The challenge runs from March 7th to the 31st, but again, you have to sign up by Monday.
