OHIO (WPVI) -- A little boy in Ohio got to celebrate his first Christmas after his mother gave him the gift of life - twice.

Brodie Tigue was barely 3 months old when he was diagnosed with a rare liver disease, a condition where the bile ducts that connect the liver to the intestines are missing.

Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic said the best chance to save Brodie was to find him a living donor who could give him a small piece of their liver.

His mother Traci was a perfect match. She donated about 20 percent of her liver to her baby.

Brodie is now 7 months old and thriving.

"There's nothing more powerful than the gift of life and you know being able to know that modern technology and medicine allows you to get there, that's all we need," said Traci Tigue. "The tree could be bare and we would be happy."

Brodie and his mom are now two months out from surgery, which means their livers have regenerated.
