Nationwide surgical gown shortage having ripple effects

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WPVI) -- A nationwide shortage of surgical gowns is having some unexpected effects.

The FDA has asked providers to stop using a specific cardinal health surgical gown because of quality control issues at the manufacturer.

Cardinal says it can't guarantee the gowns are sterile.

Some hospitals are delaying procedures, while they seek alternate surgical gown suppliers
