ATLANTA, Ga. (WPVI) -- Government health officials are tracking a new drug-resistant infection.

It's the first time it's been identified in the United States.

The government is very concerned, calling this an 'emerging threat.'

Thirteen people have gotten sick from a fungus called Candida auris.

7 cases were reported in New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and Illinois this summer.

4 patients died, but it's not clear if the infection is to blame.

The C-D-C says Candida Auris could cause outbreaks in healthcare facilities.

It reminded administrators to strictly follow cleaning protocols.
