Concerns over too much standing
Concerns over too much standing. Ali Gorman reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on September 6, 2017.

Over the past 15 years, too much sitting has been linked to cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

But now a study of Canadian workers is raising concerns about too much standing.

According to the study, people with standing jobs were twice as likely to develop heart disease as those with sitting jobs.

Study leaders say a likely reason is blood pools in the legs and the heart has to work harder to pump it up from the lower extremities.

So they say the best option is to mix it up - break up sitting and standing periods.

Also, try to walk around as much as possible.
