We already know tanning beds can lead to skin cancer but there is a new study that reveals other dangers.

The government looked at a 9-year period and found other serious tanning bed injuries landed an average of 3,000 people in the emergency room every year.

The centers for disease control said most of the ER patients suffered skin burns, eye injuries, and even passed out after using the beds.

Most of those patients were women between the ages of 18 and 24.

Dr. Ashton says "I have a lot of patients who are college age women and young women in their 20's and even teenagers and I try to tell them that not only is it not good for their health, it's not good for their beauty."

The Indoor tanning association said the industry takes customer safety "very seriously" and the number of injuries reported translates to an incidence rate of less than 1%.
