We know sitting too long, even if you work out every day, isn't good for our health.

But do those trendy standing desks really help?

One new study says they can, but it's not that simple.

Danish researchers found just having the desks didn't decrease sitting time much.

But when workers got extra encouragement to stand more, sitting time dropped by an hour a day.

They also lost a little fat, and gained some muscle.

But it's also important to move throughout the day, not just stand.

"The data we have are clear, if you do physical activity - 10,000 steps a day is the ideal goal where you reduce metabolic problems," said Dr. Michael Roizen, Cleveland Clinic Chief Wellness Officer. "If you do that, it's really beneficial."

Some experts suggest setting an alarm to remind you every hour to get up and walk for a few minutes.
