Study: Most people confused about sunscreen labels

If the sunscreen aisle makes your head spin, you're not alone.

A new study says most Americans are a bit confused when it comes to how they're labeled.

Researchers at Northwestern University found that only 43% of the people they surveyed knew that SPF stands for sun protection factor.

Just 7% knew how to find a sunscreen that protects their skin from premature aging.

To clarify, experts suggest using SPF 30 or higher if you go out into the sun.

Also look for the words "broad spectrum protection".

It offers the best defense against rays that promote both aging and skin cancer.
