PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run that involved a stolen vehicle and a bicyclist.

It happened around 10 p.m. Thursday in the northbound outer lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at F Street in Feltonville.

Surveillance video shows the 50-year-old victim on his bicycle, riding on F Street, right past a gas station on Roosevelt Boulevard.

The traffic light appeared to change, and he crossed.

As he reached the other side, police say the driver of a stolen Jeep, speeding up the Boulevard, appears to strike the bicyclist.

Then the Jeep looks to run the red light and careens into a crossing BMW.

Neighbors heard the crash.

"All of a sudden I hear screeches and then bangs, and I thought I heard like a boom, like maybe somebody fell to the ground," said neighbor Jessica Velez.

The Jeep came to a rest right up against one man's corner lawn.

"The truck...just pushed everything in. He was out the car and running; by the time it even stopped, he was out. He was running," according to neighbor Jason Nunez.

The victim was thrown from the bike. He suffered head trauma and was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The 48-year-old driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital for a complaint of pain.

The driver of the stolen Jeep ditched the vehicle and ran away.

The victim has not been identified, but residents recognized him from the neighborhood.

"The guy on the bike - he was just going home. That's the sad part. He was just going home," Nunez said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
