While waiting until Christmas Day could be cutting it too close, stores like Walgreens will be open for operation for the last of last-minute shoppers.

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Time has run out for last-minute shoppers - at most places, anyway.

Walgreens is one of the few stores that remained open into the night on Christmas Eve, closing at midnight.

For Michael Wright, the day before Christmas is more like Black Friday.

"Tonight is a special night for men, we go shopping tonight," said Wright.

At the Norristown store, gift cards and gift sets served as the best last-minute presents.

"This is just extra, you always think you need to get one more thing," said Janet Layden.

Meanwhile, at Target in Plymouth Meeting, Anthony DeSantis was spotted with a cart overflowing with toys.

"I shop one day a year so it takes me 5 hours," said DeSantis.

For the first time on Christmas Eve, Target stayed open until 11 p.m. and shoppers were scouring at the registers.

"There's been quite a few discounts out there," said Wayne Wilson of Media.

"I get this on clearance, I got that on clearance so I think I did pretty well," said Debbie Tater.

But for others, last-minute trips are about supplies and necessities.

"I'm just going to get wrapping paper," said Netyra Walker of Norristown.

And for some, Christmas Eve is still too early to shop.

"If the stores were open Christmas Day, I would come in early in the morning," said Joe Holowd of Lafayette Hill.
